Dogs of the Week: Sonny & Cher!

This isn't the first time that Sonny & Cher have been our Dogs of the Week!  Sadly, this dynamic duo is still searching for a forever family! Can you believe it?

As you know, Sonny & Cher are 9-10 year old Chihuahuas who are a very bonded pair.  They are currently being fostered in Ottawa, ON, and they have been in rescue far too long!

They are a hilarious quirky pair who want nothing more than to cuddle up on a lap or in a bed together, and get tons of love and attention.  They are good with other dogs and with cats, and would be fine with older, respectful children who understand that they are seniors.

You can check out some more adorable photos and even some video of this pair when they had an overnight visit with another LOYAL volunteer!

Foster update - May 30, 2011

The following dogs have arrived into rescue in the last week, and are now available on our website.

Max - 15-month-old, male Bichon-Poodle mix, owner surrender, currently fostered in Brampton, ON.

Hugs - 4-year-old, female Pug, currently fostered in Markham, ON.

Liam - 4-month-old, male Lab mix, stray from Mexico shelter, currently fostered in Sarnia, ON.

Regis - 7-8-year-old, male Yorkshire Terrier, stray from Montreal SPCA, currently fostered in Peterborough, ON.

Snorkie - 5-7-year-old, female Yorkie-Schnauzer mix, surrender from Missouri puppy mill, currently fostered in Courtice, ON.

PENDING

We are currently processing very promising applications for Amber, Coconut, Joni, Mowgli, Sam and Sprocket, and are not accepting additional applications are this time.  Thank you for your interest!

Adoptions are currently pending finalization for Smoochie, Monday and Agnus.

Dog of the week: Monty!

Meet Monty!

Monty is a young, happy, spunky Poodle who is searching for his forever home.

Monty was surrendered to LOYAL through a local SPCA shelter after he had been hit by a car, suffering a broken leg. After being fully vetted, Monty was placed in foster care in a home that was not able to keep him long-term; you see, Monty isn't fond of men (likely caused by abuse in his past), and unfortunately there was a man living in his foster home that Monty did not get along with.

While Monty is a friendly, outgoing fellow who gets along well with other dogs (and who would love a dog friend to live with!), he deos have his insecurities surrounding men and would do best in a female-only home, or in a home where the man will give him lots of time, patience and understanding as he settles in and learns to trust again.

Monty would do best in an adult-only, experienced home where he can be taught rules and taught how to live with a family.  He can play rough, though he means well, so dogs over 10 lbs. are recommended.  Monty would also love a fenced yard to run wild in.  Who wouldn't?!

Reba and Rudy were lucky enough to find their forever homes this week.  That's right, after over a year in rescue, Rudy finally snagged an amazing forever family!  Congrats to both pooches on their new lives!
