HOLIDAY SEASON
HOLIDAY SEASON
Christmas is fast approaching! Wondering what to get the person who has everything? Why not donate to LOYAL Rescue on their behalf? It's quick and easy, and a tax receipt issues immediately when you donate securely online. Visit our Donate page for donation options, and give the gift that keeps on giving to our rescued dogs in need this holiday season.
The holidays are often a busy time for rescue in terms of owner surrenders, while the intake of applications can slow down as people go away on holidays. As we are volunteer run, our volunteers also go away to spend time with friends and family. Our administrative process can take a little longer than using during the month of December and into early January, and we thank everyone for their patience. Please know that our goal is to get dogs into loving homes and we are working as quickly as we can with our limited resources.
Please note that many dogs are given as gifts during the holiday season. LOYAL Rescue does not condone pets as gifts to children or to adults, and our adoption process is not negotiable. Everyone in the home, including all that will be in contact with the dog, must be a part of the adoption process. A volunteer will still conduct a home visit and will meet all those in the family. Surprises for family members are not suitable for our rescued dogs, and LOYAL will not accept applications from interested adopters who are looking to give a dog or dogs as a gift to someone else. Please do your research and put a lot of though into your decision before you decide to adopt a dog (or any animal) this holiday season.
That being said, we welcome all interested adopters to submit applications through our website. We would love to find loving, committed homes for our rescued dogs for the holidays. Some have never had a family to call their own, and the best gift that a rescued dog could receive this holiday season is for a forever family to call their own!

DOGS OF THE WEEK
In honour of November being Adopt-a-Senior-Dog month, last week's Dogs of the Week were Chico and Willis, two of our senior foster residents.

NEW ARRIVALS
Beans is a young (under 1 year), male Silky Terrier-x. Beans is full of...well...Beans! This young, spunky character gets along well with dogs and cats, and has oodles of energy to burn. An active, experienced family would be best suited for this handsome youngin' who could use some ongoing obedience training.
Bentley is a 1.5-year-old, male Shih Tzu-Maltese-x. This friendly fellow just adores people (including kids!), and would be best suited to a family where someone is home all or most of the day to spend time with him. He enjoys the company of other dogs, and is working on not jumping up on people when they come over to say hello.
Dominique is an adult, female Shih Tzu-Maltese-x. She gets along well with other dogs and is a well-mannered, polite young lady. Nique (as her friends call her) is house-trained, very trustworthy when home alone and loves to sleep in the human bed at night. She is looking for a family with a lot of love to give, so that she can give that much love and more in return.
Yes, we have puppies! These beautiful Newfoundland-Lab-Great Dane-x puppies arrived into rescue a few weeks ago at the tender age of 1 week. They will not be available for adoption until 9 weeks of age (mid-January 2012), but we are now accepting applications from interested adopters. There are 4 boys - Sarge, Scotlund, Sherman and Simon - and 4 girls - Sable, Sapphire, Satin and Sierra. Please ensure that you have done your breed research before applying; Newfoundlands and Great Danes are large-extra large breed dogs and will require appropriate space and exercise. We anticipate receiving a high volume of applications for these puppies, and those whose families and homes are most suited will be screened.
Timmy is a 5-year-old, male Yorkie. This sweet, shy man is very submissive with people and other animals due to a rough start to life, but he wants so badly to be part of a family and to finally be loved. He prefers women to men right now, so home with a patient and understanding family is crucial so that Timmy can learn to trust again. Timmy is only 5.5 lbs., so older children who are respectful of his size and his space are recommended.
Applications for any of the above dogs, or any of our available dogs, can be submitted through our website.
PENDING
Angie, Clara and Tuxedo have been approved to forever homes and are currently pending adoption. We are no longer accepting applications for these dogs. Thank you for your interest!
ADOPTED
Brownie, Ozzie and Sucre found their forever homes this week. Congratulations to them and to their new families!
