Dog of the Week: Gidget!

Meet Gidget!

Gidget is a pretty, sweet-natured, 4-year-old, female Yorkie mix. Given her red-golden colouring and her luxurious hair, we think she may be mixed with Silky Terrier.

Gidget is friendly and affectionate, and she gets along well with other dogs and with kids. Cats are unknown as she is not living with any at present (and given her history of growing up in a breeding facility, she may never have encountered cats), but given her sweet personality she would likely be fine with felines.

Gidget is playful and energetic, but also loves a good cuddle and a warm dog bed to curl up on. She would love a friendly dog companion in her forever home that she could bond and play with. Chasing a ball that her foster mom throws is fun, but having another dog to romp with would be even better.

House training and leash-walking are coming along well given that she has only been living in a home for a few weeks, and she continues to make improvements daily. This is one smart cookie, and she can't wait for her forever family to come along so that she can finally have a real home to call her own.

Applications for adorable Gidget can be submitted through our website. The adoption donation for this beautiful pooch is only $375.  Don't delay because someone is going to snatch Gidget up very soon!

Dogs of the Week: Tiny and Taffy!

After many months in rescue, Tiny and Taffy thought that they had found their forever home. Unfortunately that home did not turn out to be so "forever" after all, and after a few weeks with their new family they were returned to foster care.

"Besties" Taffy and Tiny are inseparable!

These girls are both 8-year-old, long-haired Chihuahuas. Their foster mom describes them as sweet, easy-going cuddle bugs who get along well with small dogs, cats and older kids. They enjoy going for walks and cuddling on the couch with their family.

These girls are inseparable and Tiny, the momma bear of the duo, can often be found grooming Taffy and comforting her when she is nervous. They would love to find a forever home together where they can spend the rest of their days as best friends and companions. They are both quiet and are currently doing well at apartment living. They are crate-trained and house trained, and very responsible when left alone.

This dynamic duo could have their own TV sitcom!

In short, this is a perfect pair of pooches! Chihuahuas can live into their mid-late teens if properly cared for, so these girls still have many healthy years left in them. Please consider adding this adorable duo to your family!

Applications can be submitted through our website. Happy adopting!

Dog of the Week: Jackson!

Can you believe that Jackson has been in foster care with LOYAL Rescue for 2 years? We can't either!

Jackson is a 2.5-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix who weighs approximately 23 lbs. This handsome, well-behaved, outgoing, affectionate and spunky pooch arrived in February 2010 and has been loving life in his foster home ever since. He loves playing with his foster brothers and sisters of all sizes, and would love if there was a dog companion in his forever home with a similar activity level so that he can burn off some of his energy with a friend!

Jackson is crate-trained and house-trained, and would make a wonderful addition to an active family who could provide him the mental and physical stimulation that he needs, and who would love him unconditionally for the rest of his days. He would be fine in a home with older, respectful children.

Jackson is currently being fostered in Brampton, and applications for adoption can be submitted through our website.

Please share Jackson's story and let's finally find this boy his forever family!

{NEW ARRIVALS}

The below dogs are new to rescue this week. We have dogs arriving weekly, so please keep an eye on our website for new additions.

Thanks to the our dedicated, hard-working volunteers and foster homes, and to a number of volunteer drivers across both the U.S. and Ontario, LOYAL took a number of dogs from various Missouri breeding facilities this weekend. These dogs have now begun their new lives in Canada, and their bios will begin popping up on our website over the next few days and weeks. If you would like to donate to our very worthy cause and continue helping us do the things that we do every day, please visit our Donate page for more information. Thank you, as always, for your generous support!

Buster is a 5-month-old, male Yorkie who came to us from a shelter in Kentucky where he was surrendered by his owners through no fault of his own. He is a spunky, happy puppy who would do well in an active home where someone is home during the day to teach him all about manners, house training and leash skills. Buster gets along with dogs and kids, and would likely be fine with patient cats, though may need to be taught not to chase them (in play). Buster is being fostered in Mississauga.

**Buster will be appearing on CP24's Morning Show this Friday between 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Please tune in to channel 24 in the GTA to see Buster in action!**

Pearl is a 6-year-old, female Maltese who grew up in a breeding facility in Missouri, and who is a brand new Canadian citizen. This shy, timid girl is very friendly and affectionate, and she gets along well with other dogs. She is learning what life is like in a home environment, and house training and walking on a leash are works-in-progress. Pearl would do best in a quiet, adult-only home where she could spend her days lounging on dog beds and generally being pampered. She is being fostered in Mississauga.

All of the above dogs, as well as every dog on our website, are up-to-date on their shots, heart worm tested and, in the case of adult and senior dogs, are spayed and neutered unless a medical reason prevents it. Puppies may or may not be spayed/neutered depending on age. Applications can be submitted through our website. Please be sure to note the dog's name and unique number (e.g., 1167) after their name are on your application to avoid any confusion or delays.
